Google has just announced the launch of the Bard chatbot, its competitor to ChatGPT, and I, no doubt like many others, immediately went to compare their performance when asked some of the key questions of our age:
ChatGPT 3.5
Mmm.
OK, well, let’s try…
Bard
Bard gets my vote.
Now, having done that important test, I can return to my career as a filmmaker who has been exploring the nature of reality, consciousness, and the meaning of life.
Neither of them could accurately tell me who is the director of my own company!
Today when I ask the same question, the output is:
“As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the blog “Status-Q” is authored by Stephen Fry…”
However, it is able to get some facts correct. When the input text is “Who at DisplayLink was involved in the development of the first wireless VR adapter?” the result, rather pleasingly is:
“As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Jason Young was an individual associated with DisplayLink who played a significant role in the development of the first wireless VR adapter. He was involved in the innovation and technological advancements related to wireless VR solutions, including DisplayLink’s contributions to enabling wireless VR experiences.”
Excellent! I’m glad to see that it gets the important stuff right, at least, Jason!
