Be careful where you park

Early on Sunday morning, a tanker truck caught fire on a highway near the Bay Bridge. Unfortunately, it had stopped underneath another section of highway, which then melted.

I guess the best point here is that the steel didn’t melt, but rather that the heat weakened the steel. It’s the same thing that is supposed to have happened on 9/11, and the general media is reporting it wrong. There was an interview I saw of a head firefighter or other official on the scene, and he mentioned weakening the steel but never melting. The official word used was weakening.
