But the difference is that non-ruined entrepreneurs get wealth and status, whereas non-dead soldiers come back to high chances of unemployment, addiction, and PTSD.

True, but I also wish I had the early retirement, generous pension and excellent healthcare of some of my ex-service friends and family (especially in the US)!
